08.26.2011 - Centier Honors a Legacy of Service

When Centier Bank built its corporate headquarters in 2008, Centier Bank President and CEO, Michael E. Schrage, wanted to do something special to commemorate associates who have provided a decade of service to Centier and its communities. “Every associate is a permanent member of our corporate history,” stated Schrage. “When you devote your life to a career with one organization, it means something not only to you, but to your families. And I wanted a permanent reminder of the time and devotion that each associate has put into this company.”

Therefore, since opening the Centier Centre in 2008, Centier has begun a tradition of commemorating 10 and 25 year service milestones by honoring associates with a personalized brick paver that is installed in the front path of the company’s headquarters in Merrillville. In just four years, the company has placed nearly 300 brick pavers in honor of its long-time associates.

On Wednesday evening, Schrage, along with Centier’s Board of Directors, honored 41 associates with service pavers. “There is such loyalty in the heart of this organization, it amazes me,” stated Schrage. “That’s one of the legacies that you have helped build for future generations: Take care of people that surround you, reach into their hearts and find out what they need and what makes them happy.”

Schrage is proud to recognize the hundreds of associates who have collectively devoted more than 3,000 years to his family-owned bank. As he watches the swarm of associates searching for their paver in front of the building, it is apparent that he is truly appreciative of their role within the organization and the unique corporate culture that is Centier Bank.

“You don’t see this often in today’s work environment,” Schrage said, referring to the longevity of employment and loyalty of service to the bank. “I hope everyone honored here today will give another 10-25 years of service to Centier.”
