In conjunction with the American Bankers Associations’ Get Smart About Credit efforts and the state of Indiana’s fourth annual Money Smart Week, Hammond Adult Education hosted daytime and evening credit presentations on Tuesday, October 13, and Thursday, October 15. The presentation taught the attendees how to make credit cards work for them.
The English versions were presented by Olga Cantu, Centier Bank Whiting branch manager, and Dana O’Neal, Centier Hammond operations branch manager. Lili Del Toro, Centier Bank East Chicago branch manager, and Ruth Vera, Centier East Chicago customer service representative, made the presentations in Spanish. Over 300 students were reached during the four presentations.
Cynthia Warner-Lowe, Director of Adult & Extended Services for the School City of Hammond, stated, “Being informed about credit cards, interest rates, credit scores and other related topics is important for all adults. Hammond Adult Education appreciates Centier Bank presenting this information to our adult students through a series of workshops. One of the objectives of the Hammond Adult Education program is to assist our adult students in becoming knowledgeable and functioning citizens in today’s society.”
