Centier Bank hosted a weeklong collection, January 18-23, 2010, to benefit the American Red Cross earthquake relief effort in Haiti. The bank wide collection was part of Centier’s “Dress Casual for Charity” fundraiser, a company program that encourages bank employees to make a monetary donation in exchange for wearing casual attire to work. Based on client interest and feedback, the fundraiser was extended to include donations from the public. The total amount collected was $9,328.79.
"The collected gifts donated by Centier employees and customers shows great compassion for the people of Haiti during their greatest time of need," stated Gordon T. Johnson, CEO of the American Red Cross of Northwest Indiana Chapter. "Donations to the Red Cross are giving hope and saving lives by providing water, food, shelter, health and mental health services."
Owned by the Schrage Family since 1895, Centier employs more than 650 associates. Known for a corporate culture that encourages volunteerism and community support, Centier has hosted community collections in the past for both regional and international natural disasters.
