Centier Bank and Gary Neighborhood Services (GNS) partnered through financial literacy, and offered a workshop on how to choose and keep a checking account on Wednesday, January 13th, in the GNS office at 300 West 21st Avenue in Gary. After the lecture, attendees were able to ask questions and then left with materials that covered everything they had learned, including practice checkbooks.
The program was well received and plans are being made to schedule additional presentations. Tom Osborne, GNS Assistant Director, stated “Our workshops are for the purpose of increasing the knowledge and skills of our community residents, and improving their quality of life. We’d like to thank Centier Bank for partnering with us in providing this valuable service to our clients.” Dakita Jones, Centier Gary Midtown branch manager, commented, “Holding these workshops gives me the ability to serve my city. My goal is to make a difference in at least one person’s life financially. When one is touched, we have the ability to reach ALL.” For more information on banking presentations, please contact Dian Reyome, Centier Financial Literacy Coordinator at dreyome@centier.com or 219-755-6140 x 1832.
