Centier Celebrates New East Chicago Location
Centier Bank is a lot more noticeable along Indianapolis Boulevard in East Chicago. The bank recently opened a newly constructed branch at 720 W. 145th Street, on the corner of Indianapolis and 145th Street. The East Chicago branch, which was previously located inside of Sterk’s Super Foods, marked the occasion with a with a grand opening celebration, featuring a community “Family Fun Day “.

Centier Teaches Financial Literacy at Watson Elementary
On April 23rd and April 25th, Centier associates, Jessica Ward and Lindsey Recupito, taught the fourth graders at Watson Elementary in Schererville an interactive financial literacy presentation about saving and checking accounts. One of the teachers, Mari-Jo Olenik, stated “The presenters were very informative and the kids loved the presentation. They really liked using the check register and working on the activities. This kind of ‘real life’ presentations is very valuable to all students as we’re always dealing with money in some form or another. Getting them thinking about saving money is a great idea at this age.”

Centier Supports "Teach Children to Save Day"
The American Bankers Association has chosen April 29, 2008 as Teach Children to Save Day. The effort is an annual, nationwide event to teach children their financial ABCs. In conjunction with the program, Associates from Centier Bank have been helping start fourth - sixth graders on the path to a positive financial future by making presentations on saving money in their classrooms. The presentations have been scheduled April 1, 2008 through May 15, 2008.

Carnegie Performing Arts Association Receives Donation
Centier Bank presented the Carnegie Performing Arts Association with a $50,000 donation towards the renovation of the Historic Carnegie Library in East Chicago. The donation, distributed annually over the next five years, supports the association’s efforts to renovate and reopen The Carnegie Performing Arts Center in the East Chicago Harbor District. The new Carnegie Center will provide an outlet for both students and the surrounding community with opportunities to be exposed and enjoy the arts. The building, formerly the Carnegie Library, has been placed on the Historic Register of National Places.

Free "Money Matters" Presentation - May 10th
The Lake County Public Library is offering a FREE presentation on “Money Matters – How to keep track of your money” by Lisa Crabtree, Centier Bank, Merrillville Branch Supervisor. The presentation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

National Teach Children to Save Day
The American Bankers Association’s has chosen Tuesday, April 29, 2008, as National Teach Children to Save Day (NTCSD). The effort is an annual, nationwide event to increase children’s financial literacy. Associates from Centier Bank will help start fourth through sixth graders on the path to a positive financial future by making interactive classroom presentations on saving money.
