Centier Bank Appoints Paula Fender as Assistant Vice President of Credit Administration

MERRILLVILLE – Michael E Schrage, President and CEO of Centier Bank, is pleased to announce the appointment of Paula Fender CRC as Assistant Vice President of Credit Administration.
Prior to joining Centier in 2013, Paula acquired 21 years of experience in retail banking, consumer lending, and commercial real estate portfolio and relationship managing in Merrillville, Ind. and Grand Rapids, Mich. When she joined Centier in 2013, Paula served as a Credit Analyst and was promoted to a Senior Credit Analyst in 2015. Since then, she has served as a Credit Team Leader and was later made an officer of the company in 2017.
Paula leads a team of commercial loan underwriters through training, guidance, and development. Additionally, Paula reviews loan presentations, evaluates loan decision recommendations, managing risk and proposing solutions to loan structure and due diligence.
“I intend to continue learning and working closely with Centier’s management and associates to develop and promote our team to be the strongest credit professionals possible, thereby providing the best service to our Business Bankers and clients while managing risk at Centier Bank,” she explained. “Our Credit team at Centier Bank is exceptionally about assisting our communities and contributing to business growth throughout Indiana.”
Paula received a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University, as well as an MBA from Western Michigan University and is Credit Risk Certified by the Risk Management Association. She lives in Crown Point with her husband Mike, daughter Emily who is a senior at Indiana University, and son Ryan, a freshman at Murray State University.
Paula is also an active member of First United Methodist Church of Crown Point’s Administrative Council and Finance Committee, while simultaneously serving on the fundraising committee for the Alec Matalin Memorial Scholarship Fund administered by the Crown Point Community Foundation.
