Centier Bank Associates Raise $1,000 for The Salvation Army through “Dress Casual” Day
February 28, 2018
MERRILLVILLE – Centier Bank associates rarely pass up the opportunity to help the communities in which they serve. During December’s “Dress Casual for Charity Day,” Centier associates and the bank combined to raise $1,000 in support of The Salvation Army’s mission. The donation from Centier will support The Salvation Army of Lake County’s general operations.
The Salvation Army of Lake County is comprised of three Community Corps Centers (located in Gary, East Chicago, and Munster) that serve all of Lake County. Altogether, the Corps serve approximately 40,000 individuals each year throughout Lake County through feeding programs, food pantries, emergency assistance for utilities and rents, emergency disaster services, youth programs, social service/case work services and more.
“While we have a great need for volunteers and donations during the Christmas season, we have ongoing needs throughout the year,” explained Joan Leech, Director of Development with The Salvation Army of Lake County. “It is only through the generosity of organizations such as Centier that we can provide the services we do.”
As a newer Board Member of The Salvation Army of Lake County, Centier Bank’s Senior Loan Portfolio Manager/Officer Christine Milton wanted to be part of an opportunity to help raise awareness of all the good things the organization does for residents in Lake County.
"Most people can associate the Salvation Army with the red kettles around Christmas time. It’s important to me to spread awareness that they provide to those in need all year round and not just during the holidays," explained Milton. “I am fortunate to work for a community bank and the employees of Centier that care about the community we work and live in.”
Anyone who wishes to volunteer or donate to The Salvation Army of Lake County programs can contact Joan Leech at Joan_Leech@usc.salvationarmy.org, or call 219-838-1328 x 211.
