Centier Bank Donates $2,500 to Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana
March 19, 2021
MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — Centier Bank recently made a $2,500 community donation to Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana which helps fund programs that educate, empower, and strengthen Indiana families.
Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana is a Hammond-based non-profit organization that advocates on behalf of those experiencing emotional challenges and helps them take steps to achieve overall wellness, said Richele Echols, Development Manager at MHAWNI.
Echols said 2020 donations and sponsorships from partners like Centier Bank helped the organization complete over 11,000 home visits, cover over 1,800 days of medication costs for adults living with mental illness, complete over 1,400 postpartum depression screenings and deliver over 600 infant safe sleep doses to NWI parents and caregivers to aid in the reduction of Indiana’s Infant Mortality Rate.
“Since March 2020, we have experienced a 14 percent average increase in overall service requests/families served,” Echols explained. “We have seen from national and local screening data that the number of people seeking support during the pandemic has skyrocketed. In 2020 alone, 2,500 NWI additional residents sought help for anxiety and depression through MHA National’s online screening tools.”
Anthony Contrucci, Vice President of Community Relations said the bank feels a strong commitment to the welfare of Indiana’s communities, and this donation is one way to directly impact the NWI community, as MHANWI’s programs are offered at no cost to those they serve.
“Centier Bank demonstrates its commitment to Indiana communities through volunteerism, as well as monetary donations such as this,” Contrucci said. “We are empathetic to those struggling with mental health—especially in the last year. That’s why all of our donations to this organization make us proud to be part of the impact Mental Health America has made for our Northwest Indiana residents.”
From 2016-2020, the Bank’s community impact across Indiana was valued at a total of $11,055,978. The finding came out of a study examining several areas of corporate philanthropy including volunteerism, donations, and internal fundraising which quantified Centier Bank’s impact on local organizations and communities at large.
