Centier Bank Donates $500 Toward New Kid's Zone at National New York Central Railroad Museum in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. – Centier Bank donated $500 to the City of Elkhart’s National New York Central Railroad Museum to help fund the expansion and renovation of a children’s area at the historical museum. The Friends of the NYCRR held a virtual fundraising event last fall, which Centier Bank helped sponsor.
The museum, which was built in 1987, is using the funds that are being raised to create a children’s playhouse shaped and themed like a steam locomotive and train caboose. From there, the museum hopes to create fun, interactive exhibits for children which help them experience history by playing with simple steam locomotive replicas and wearing costumes to resemble uniforms of railroad conductors, engineers, firemen, and brakemen.
Monica Abair, Centier Bank’s Downtown Elkhart branch manager, along with Kathy Sears, Vice President of Business Banking, presented the donation to the Friends of the NYCRR.
“The NYCRR Museum is such a great place to visit in the heart of downtown Elkhart,” Abair said. “Centier Bank is so excited for this expansion, and we are proud to serve alongside Elkhart businesses as corporate sponsors to help create a memorable experience for all of the museum’s youngest visitors.”
