Centier Bank Donates $70,000 to Howard Park Revitalization Project
January 17, 2020
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Centier Bank recently presented a $70,000 community donation to The City of South Bend to aid in the revitalization of Howard Park, South Bend’s first and oldest park.
The 120-year-old park underwent a 14-month renovation that was completed in late November 2019, transforming it into a community hub for ice skating and special events with many features, like a state-of-the-art playground.
Amber Pulford, Regional Manager at Centier Bank was born and raised in South Bend, and currently resides there with her family. Pulford expressed how Howard Park will tie the South Bend community together for years to come and said Centier Bank is proud to support a project that will benefit so many.
“Howard Park was such a special place for me growing up, and I’m thrilled to be part of an organization in my professional life that supports a place that means so much to people who live and work in South Bend,” Pulford explained. “The significance that Howard Park is 120 years old and Centier Bank is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year is not lost on me, and the partnering of two longstanding institutions serving the community just makes sense.”
Aaron Perri, Director of Venues, Parks and Arts for the City of South Bend said Centier Bank’s support and donation toward the revitalization project particularly benefitted the Howard Park Community Center building on the park’s grounds, which will host special events, senior events, financial literacy programs, exercise classes, and more.
“The main room in the building is called Centier Bank Commons, and it is the spot where people interact with the art we have on display, change their ice skates, and warm up by the fireplace,” Perri said. “We at the City of South Bend are particularly grateful for our relationships with the team at Centier Bank, a family-owned organization whose mission and values align extremely well with our own.”
