Centier Bank Expanding Investment in Michiana with Third Elkhart Location
February 26, 2019
ELKHART – Centier Bank is set to open its third banking center in Elkhart and 10th in the Michiana region when its doors open on its new Elkhart Downtown branch, located at 100 S. Main Street in Elkhart, Indiana.
“There is a revitalization happening in the Michiana region and we look to be part of it as we continue to invest and grow with the communities we serve,” explained Mike Schrage, President and CEO of Centier Bank. “At a time in which other banks are merging or abandoning this area, Centier is planting its roots and investing in Elkhart and Greater Michiana.”
Centier Bank now operates 61 branches throughout 11 counties in Indiana. With $4.4 billion in assets, Centier’s “Not For Sale Promise” ensures that the bank will continue to be locally owned and operated. In its fourth generation of Schrage Family ownership, Centier is Indiana’s largest private, family-owned bank. Its approach of focusing on community and relationship-based banking, centered around their associate’s Servant Heart Culture, has differentiated Centier from other banks serving the region.
“We want to establish strong relationships with families and businesses in this area that will form the foundation of strong communities,” said Sheila Sieradzki, Vice President of Community Relations for Centier Bank. “We are actively offering no-cost programs for financial literacy and education for people and businesses in the community. Centier’s services span beyond just a checking account and a loan. We are a financial advisor dedicated to ensuring our clients have the knowledge and confidence to make informed financial decisions.”
Centier first ventured into Michiana with the opening of its La Porte branch in 2004, Plymouth in 2005, followed by Mishawaka in 2007 and Elkhart in 2014. The bank has since expanded with branches in Goshen, Granger, and two in South Bend. In 2018, Centier opened the doors at its Elkhart North location, paving the way for expansion downtown.
“Centier has really created a dynamic team of talented people in our Michiana region,” said Kristin Mishler Branch Manager for Centier’s Elkhart Downtown branch. “We pride ourselves on making every experience a special one for our clients and building those relationships over time is what sets us apart.”
The Elkhart Downtown branch will host both retail and business bankers and will offer a community room, free Wi-Fi, and a Technology Bar designed to allow clients easy access to their banking services. Centier also partners with local coffee outlets to showcase the best, local brews available with their free coffee bars as well. The bank is currently hiring for Universal Bankers for this new location, but also has open positions for Mortgage Loan and Business Banking Officers in the Michiana region. The Elkhart Downtown branch will open for business this summer. As the structure at 100 S. Main Street is repaired and restored, passers-by can be on the lookout for Centier’s traditional “big blue bow” adorning the building, just as it did during the final stages of construction of the Elkhart North Branch.
