Centier Bank Sponsors Successful Starfish Initiative Event
December 21, 2021
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Centier Bank recently presented a $1,500 community donation to sponsor a fun-filled awareness event for local educational nonprofit, Starfish Initiative. The event was held at Burn by Rocky Patel in Downtown Indianapolis.
Starfish Initiative aims to help close the college-access gap for academically promising students facing unearned adversity in the Indianapolis area. The organization focuses heavily on mentorship programs and relies on donations to fulfill them--impacting scholars through educational opportunities and college and career events such as their Leadership Camp, Back-to-School Celebration, and Freshman Orientation.
Eric Howard, Vice President of Development for Starfish Initiative, said fundraising events help raise awareness of the organization’s impact on local scholars and provide resources necessary for their success.
“The support of Centier Bank made this event successful and expanded awareness for Starfish Initiative,” Howard said. “Centier Bank Market President, Troy Kafka, and Centier Business Banker, Derek Philips, are tremendous advocates for the communities they serve and work with. We look forward to continuing to work with Centier to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Kafka said Starfish Initiative’s mission to fill empty caps and gowns by improving graduation rates in Indianapolis is improving the quality of life for so many students and families in the community.
“Centier Bank is very lucky to have partnerships with amazing local nonprofit like Starfish,” Kafka explained. “We at Centier are in awe of all of the wonderful work they do, and the invaluable impact they make on the lives of students, and we’re just happy to be a part of their success.”
Recent research concluded that Centier Bank’s community impact across Indiana was valued at a total of $11,055,978. The finding came out of a study examining several areas of corporate philanthropy including volunteerism, donations, and internal fundraising which quantified Centier Bank’s impact on local organizations and communities at large.
“Part of being a true community bank is to form relationships with members of local organizations to see how we can work together,” Kafka said. “We want folks to see this sponsorship as the best example of the vital role of a community bank--to be able to identify the needs of the community and to help where we can.”
