SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Centier Bank hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Jan. 22 at its newly-renovated downtown South Bend Branch, located at 108 N. Main St. inside the historic JMS Building. Inside the bank’s lobby, Centier Bank Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Mike Schrage, hosted members of the South Bend Chamber of Commerce, Centier Bank’s Michiana leadership team and members of its Board of Directors, as well as South Bend Mayor, James Mueller, to celebrate.

Centier Bank first opened its doors on the Downtown South Bend branch in 2017, and has served as a business hub for both personal and commercial lending services as well as investment, trust, and retirement planning services. The renovated branch includes an additional 1,319 sq. feet of office space connected to the existing retail space. The expanded lobby and added teller line are enhancements to the functionality of the space, aimed at creating a comfortable and inviting feel with a sleek, modern design that aligns with Centier’s newer branch interiors. The branch’s ATM has also been relocated as a walk-up unit accessible from the sidewalk.

Unlike some banks, we want to preserve the downtown areas of our communities, and that’s an important part of why we did this remodel,” Schrage said. “We’re committed to being Indiana’s largest private, family-owned bank for generations to come, and welcome our clients to our newly renovated space and hope they enjoy it as much as we do.”

Centier first ventured into the Michiana region in 2006, with a loan production office in Mishawaka. Centier has since expanded its presence with business banking centers in Mishawaka and Elkhart, with additional branches located in Elkhart, Granger, Goshen, and Plymouth. The bank also celebrated the opening of a new branch, South Bend West, in early 2022.

Centier Bank President, Chris Campbell, shared that the bank has deployed almost $1 billion within South Bend and surrounding areas and the expansion is emblematic of what the bank plans to do and how it continues to invest in the future of the Michiana region.

“We are extremely grateful to the City of South Bend and everyone who has helped us along the way,” Campbell said. “We look forward to many more years together in perpetuity.”

Mayor James Mueller extended his congratulations to Schrage and Centier Bank’s Downtown South Bend team.

“We’re always excited about expansions and new endeavors in our downtown, we appreciate Centier and have always been aware of the great things you’re working on and the great projects you’re supporting for our businesses, residents, and entrepreneurs alike,” Mueller shared. “We appreciate your presence here and recommitment here in Downtown South Bend—we’re very excited for you.”
