November 8, 2022
MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – Centier Bank made a “clean sweep” at the annual Regional Development Company’s (RDC) Annual Awards Nov. 3, 2022, being recognized as the Bank of the Year with the most funded loans based on quantity and dollar amount. Additionally, Centier Bank business bankers were recognized and awarded at the event for their lending efforts.
The Valparaiso-based nonprofit is a Certified Development Company that administers the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 504 Loan Program for small business growth. The RDC partners with local financial institutions to provide business financing for large capital projects in the states of Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. This year, the RDC had 40 loan approval by the U.S. Small Business Administration totaling $29 million in debenture dollars to local companies. Of those loans, two of the businesses are minority-owned, nine are rural, and five are women-owned businesses.
Because of the loans the RDC funded this past year, $36 million of capital investment was brought into local communities and were a catalyst in the creation of 124 jobs in the states of Indiana and Illinois.
Erica Dombey, President and Executive Director of the RDC said Centier Bank has long been a supporter of the RDC and small business throughout the Northwest Indiana Region. Centier partnered with the RDC on 12 loans for a total of $5,989,000 in SBA loan dollars.
“Centier Bank’s commercial lending team does a great job of assessing the needs of their customers and knows that using the SBA 504 Loan Program will allow them to have a 10 percent down payment on commercial property, which is a huge cash savings,” Dombey explained. “I look forward to continuing our partnership with Centier Bank to help make small business owner’s dreams come true!”
Centier Bank Small Business Bankers Amy Kezy, Vice President of Business Banking, and Lydia Post, Assistant Vice President of Small Business Banking, were awarded Lender of the Year based on number of loans funded. Greg Gottschalk was also awarded Lender of the Year based on total dollar amount of loans funded.
“I am proud to be a part of a community bank that cares so deeply about its small business clients the way Centier Bank does,” Kezy said. “It is very rewarding to help bring new and exciting businesses to our communities and enrich lives.”
“It is an honor to be recognized by the RDC and to celebrate not only a great year of lending with the RDC, but the recognition of myself and my colleagues,” Post said. “We are all working hard to make our communities better places to live, work, and play for an even better tomorrow.”
The RDC also inducted Centier Bank business bankers Greg Gottschalk, Amy Kezy, Lydia Post, Tim Spoelman, and Bill Winterhaler into the “Millionaire’s Club,” an exclusive group of lenders who have referred loans of $1 million or more.
