Centier Bank Supports Lafayette Family YMCA Preschool with $50,000 Donation

January 15, 2019

Centier Bank - Lafayette Family YMCALAFAYETTE – They say “it takes a village to raise a child”. The Lafayette community is seeing that firsthand with the recently-opened $29 million, 85,000 square foot Lafayette Family YMCA plus the 20,000 square foot Franciscan Health Physical Therapy area is  already making an impact in the lives of its members. Centier Bank is playing its part, pledging a $50,000 donation to support the new facility’s preschool as part of the Intersection Connection project.
“When we heard about the new YMCA, we knew we had to be involved because it was such a game changer for quality of life in Greater Lafayette,” explained Lafayette Market President Joseph Howarth. “The YMCA plays such a key role in the health and development for the youth of this area, and we are proud to be a part of this awesome community initiative.”
The preschool area consists of three classrooms that support offerings for the YMCA’s programs designed for students ages 2-4. It also features a pre-kindergarten class that helps the students learn essential skills they will need later in life.
The donation also provides the opportunity for Centier associates to provide financial literacy education opportunities to the preschoolers, creating a well-rounded experience for the students to learn about the basics of saving.
The preschool is one area of the expanded childcare services being offered by the YMCA, which also includes daycare, school-aged care, and KidZone, a play time service that includes games, arts and crafts, and more. The preschool officially opened in late November 2018 and is currently open for enrollment.
