Centier Bank Supports Urban League of Northwest Indiana Diversity and Inclusion Luncheon with $1,000 Donation MERRILLVILLE– Throughout the year, the Urban League of Northwest Indiana serves approximately 8,000 students and families through its programs and events. In support of one of the organization’s largest events, Centier Bank provided the Urban League of Northwest Indiana with a $1,000 donation ahead of its Diversity and Inclusion Luncheon.

The Urban League of Northwest Indiana works to promote, encourage, and enhance services to improve the social, educational, and economic conditions of minority groups in Lake, Porter and La Porte counties. The Diversity and Inclusion Award Luncheon will take place on March 22, 2018, and will serve as a celebration to not only recognize organizations with notable diversity and inclusion programs but will also highlight initiatives implemented by high school students.

Relationships with organizations like Centier help provide opportunities for families to increase their quality of life through college attainment and financial stability, explained Vanessa Allen-McCloud, President and CEO of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana. "We receive no funding from the National office nor any Federal or State monies, and rely solely on contributions from our Lake, Porter, and LaPorte communities that we serve, and the support and annual contributions from our faithful partners."

For Art Russell, Vice President/CRA at Centier Bank and Member of the Board of Directors for the Urban League of Northwest Indiana, the event offers a great perspective to the successful programs being implemented across Northwest Indiana and the impact they make preparing youth with the ability to succeed in professional and post-secondary educational opportunities.

“I know firsthand the effect this group has on the lives of young people in our Region,” said Art Russell, of Centier Bank. “I love that Centier can lend support to efforts like diversity training and scholarship programs that prepare students with the tools they need for success.”
